You can’t stop time but you can buy some. This merger is necessary for both companies’ survival. It delays the inevitable for a little while longer by reducing expenses and creating some, albeit little interest in the new stock. Both companies missed the boat on digital because they didn’t invest in the engineering when they had the chance. In digital, you have to be ahead of the game with the goal to invent a new game the other’s play. Both companies always bring a low yield digital product that is a cheap knock-off of well engineered platforms and products. The intention has always been to stop the bleeding from the print product but never has enough product dev standards been implemented to bring a viable digital product to market.
