Cool article. Yelp will do this well most likely. It is interesting, however, that most deal companies do not seem to be taking it past the \percent off\ model, or are at least over-emphasizing that method of gaining a deal-seeker's attention. Much has been said about what this deep discounting does to the small business owner's per product/service profit, but we can't forget too that other forms of deals may prove to be just as attractive for the user, and more entertaining. At this point, for me there is starting to be a little bit of monotony as far as the presentation. Yes, people love to get a \steal\ and yes \percent offs\ express that side of things nicely, but even some simple changes in presentation--\$1 Tacos\ instead of \50 Percent Off Meal\ at a Mexican restaurant, for instance--might entice more people. There are all kinds of deals you can get, after all. Sometimes you might get a percent off, sometimes two for one, family special, a friend shops free, or whatnot. For the small business competing against national brands, creativity in marketing is a must and therefore any distributors of small business deals, I think, must be equally, or preferably more creative.
