Adjusting the Local Video Picture; More From DMS ’08
TKG’s Directional Media Strategies conference kicked off this morning, and we’ll blog most sessions here.
There was an interesting session run by Michael Taylor throughout the morning to kick off our local sales training series. Direct local sales is a vital part in realizing the massive local advertising opportunity and the Yellow Pages industry has the closest touch points to this fragmented and hard-to-reach market.
There is lots of talk about evolving the sales bundle to include new in-demand media like search marketing and video. But actually keeping up with advertiser demands by constantly evolving the tactics of sales reps on the street is another story — and will be an important part of this puzzle.
On Wednesday, I’ll run a session on the local video opportunity, which is sizable, but still comes with some of these sales challenges, and other integration issues and growing pains. I covered some of this for our friends over at the ReelSEO blog on Friday, which you can read here.
If you’re here at the show and you want to meet up, tackle one of us as we rush by. We’re interested in talking to anyone and everyone while we’re here.
