I have been talking about this for sometime. There is almost a perfect synergy between cable and the Internet. I really see the two lines becoming a complete blur. The big change will be from where the content is sourced. Rather than cable sourcing content offline, we will start to see websites becoming the content origination point. The question is what online brand(world wide) will best integrate with the offline(innately local) cable medium? Does it make sense for Youtube to play this role? Or does Youtube ultimately lack a natural local synergy(by being everything to all people) to continue to attract original content.(This of course when the same base online video technology is offered by local online competitors). I guess the question is: Where will the primary bridge between the online and offline world ultimately flourish? Global to Local? or Local to Local? At VideoHomes we think local to local is the logical conclusion and have begun to build out www.PhiladelphiaDirections.com and other local sites as a result of this conclusion.
