Videos on the Long Tail

From the Friday Brain Candy Department, here are two entertaining videos on the long tail.

This one from Chris Anderson’s Long Tail Blog: an aesthetically pleasing (though admittedly promotional) video on the long tail and Anderson’s book (which I plan to start reading any day now).

And this one from the Lost Remote Blog: a humorously ominous video on the economic and social effects of the long tail.

The economic model introduced in Anderson’s seminal 2004 WIRED magazine piece has officially reached mainstream status (if it hadn’t already), and it underlies a great deal of the evolution of media — local and otherwise — that we cover.
