Yahoo!-TiVo Deal
The N.Y. Times reports on a pending announcement between Yahoo! and TiVo. Yahoo! moves off the desktop and into the living room. It's mostly about using Yahoo's TV listings to schedule TiVo, but there is a range of other Yahoo! content that will now be available on TiVo.
It works well for TiVo (there had been earlier rumors of a TiVo-Google deal) and shows the way to a potential (potential) endgame for the company. It will also likely be good for Yahoo!'s pan-media strategy (podcasts, music, video). AOL apparently has a similar deal with TiVo already, according to PaidContent.
Competitor Microsoft has significant "offline" TV-related partnerships, and its technology is behind many of the telco IPTV initiatives. More from AP and CNET.
