Yellow Pages News Round-Up
I’ve seen several announcements in recent days and weeks in the online Yellow Pages space that are worthy of your attention.
First, the European directory publishers PagesJaunes Groupe and Seat Pagine Gialle have both launched beta online classified services, offering “small ads” in autos and homes and, in Seat’s case, general merchandise as well.
The French site is at www.annoncesjaunes.fr, while the Italian site is at www.annunci.paginegialle.it.
I write more in an Advisory being posted today. These launches occurred within a week of each other and are emblematic of European publishers’ desire to make themselves as strong as possible as they face off against search engines for share of users’ attention and advertisers’ spend.
The U.S. online directory SuperPages.com has rolled out a new feature aimed at promoting user-generated content. “Reviewer of the Week” has reviewers from the same city competing for the honor of being featured as the “reviewer of the week.” The winner is the one who posts the greatest number of reviews. You can read the announcement here.
Finally, Internet Yellow Pages provider soUno announced it has acquired the domain name www.InternetYellowPages.com. Just a week ago, Local.com announced it was acquiring soUno.
