Yell.com Expands Mobile Offering
U.K. publisher Yell’s online directory operation, Yell.com, has expanded the capability of its mobile directory platform with a new service being offered both in application- and browser-based modes through a deal with the Danish mobile search firm mobilePeople. Here is the announcement.
Yell.com mobile will now allow users to search for local information free of charge, including businesses names, addresses and telephone numbers, as well as maps and directions. There are an estimated 15.7 million regular mobile Internet users in the U.K., according to Yell.
The service is available both as an application-based service compatible with roughly 100 different mobile handsets and as a browser-based version that works with all Internet-enabled handsets, the company said. This dual-mode approach is aimed at reaching the greatest number of handsets covering the widest possible range of capability, according to Yell.
