Digg Adds Video, Podcasts
I’m a bit late on this news, but Digg.com started off the week with a new interface that users so far (going by anecdotal evidence) seem to really like. Part of the redesign involves the integration of videos and podcasts. The company hopes this will add value by supplementing its text links to popular online news stories.
The addition of more multimedia content should also boost the site’s appeal in the subject areas it continues to develop including entertainment, sports and politics (think upcoming presidential election). Digg’s strengths have so far been mostly in technology news.
Here is more info on the new features and design from Search Engine Land (focuses on podcasting elements) and Om Malik (lots of screenshots and details about the video elements). More of our past writings on Digg are also here, here and here.
